On Saturday the 10th August 2019 the Uprising Community Club in conjunction with Hackney Council successfully hosted the second annual Windrush Street Party on Downs Park Road, Hackney.

The organisers curated a wide range of activities and events to engage and entertain the community including, performances from the Whittington Steel Band, Caribbean folk songs from the Uprising Community Club members, a live puppet show, Face painting, a live DJ, Table tennis, Dominoes, a bouncy castle, free hairdressing, massage, manicure and pedicure sessions, a barbecue and much more.

The event was attended by young and old, locals from the nearby community and passers-by. Hackney speaker Counsellor Kam Adams and former president of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, Paulette Lewis MBE also attended and gave speeches.
